The S6550XE-56HF-HI switch comes with power supply slot PWR1 empty and power supply slot PWR2 installed with a filler panel. You can install one or two power supplies for the switch as needed. In Figure2-2, two LSVM1AC650 power supplies are installed in the power supply slots.
The S6550XE-56HF-HI switch comes with the five fan tray slots empty. You must install five fan trays of the same model for the switch. In Figure2-2, five LSWM1FANSA fan trays are installed in the fan tray slots.

The S6550X-32Q-HI switch comes with power supply slot PWR1 empty and power supply slot PWR2 installed with a filler panel. You can install one or two power supplies for the switch as needed. In Figure2-5, two PSR450-12A power supplies are installed in the power supply slots.
The S6550X-32Q-HI switch comes with the four fan tray slots empty. You must install four fan trays of the same model for the switch. In Figure2-5, four FAN-40F-1-A fan trays are installed in the fan tray slots.
The S6550X-32Q-HI switch comes with a filler panel in the expansion slot. You can select an expansion card for the switch as required. In Figure2-5, a filler panel is installed in the expansion slot.
The S6550X-32Q-HI switch provides a reset button at its rear panel. You can press the button to reboot the switch.
The S6550X-32Q-HI switch provides an SSD slot at its rear panel. You can install an SSD card to expand the device capacity.
3 Removable components and compatibility matrixes
The S6550XE-HI switch series and S6550X-HI switch series use removable components. Available removable components depend on the switch model.

CAUTION: When the switch has power supplies in 1+1 redundancy, you can replace a power supply without powering off the switch. Before replacing a power supply, make sure it is powered off. |

Expansion modules
The S6550X-32Q-HI switch supports the LSPM6FWD module.
The LSPM6FWD is a high-performance fourth-generation firewall module. It provides features including firewall, VPN, content filtering, content identification, URL filtering, and NAT. By using this module on a switch, you can enhance the switch security capabilities without changing the network topology.

4 Ports and LEDs
As a best practice, use H3C transceiver modules and cables for the switch. H3C transceiver modules and cables are subject to change over time. For the most up-to-date list of H3C transceiver modules and cables, contact H3C Support or marketing staff. Console ports
The S6550XE-56HF-HI switch has two console ports: one serial console port and one mini USB console port.
The S6550X-32Q-HI switch has one serial console port.

Management Ethernet ports
The S6550XE-56HF-HI switch has two management Ethernet ports: one copper management port and one SFP management port. The S6550X-32Q-HI switch has one management Ethernet port. You can connect the ports to a local PC for software loading and debugging or to a remote management station for remote management.

USB ports
The S6550XE-56HF-HI and S6550X-32Q-HI switches each have one OHCI-compliant USB 2.0 port that can upload and download data at a rate up to 480 Mbps. You can use this USB port to access the file system on the Flash of the switch, for example, to upload or download application and configuration files.
The USB port supplies power as per USB 2.0 specifications. Use only USB 2.0-compliant USB devices for the USB port. The port might not identity USB devices that are not compliant with USB 2.0.

NOTE: USB devices from different vendors vary in compatibilities and drivers. H3C does not guarantee correct operation of USB devices from other vendors on the switch. If a USB device fails to operate on the switch, replace it with one from another vendor. |
SFP port
The S6550XE-56HF-HI switch provides one SFP port on the rear panel. Table4-3 describes the GE SFP transceiver modules and cables and Table4-4 describes the FE SFP transceiver modules supported by the SFP port..

The S6550XE-56HF-HI switch provides eight QSFP28 ports. The QSFP28 ports support the following transceiver modules and cables:

IMPORTANT: · You can use a QSFP-40G-SR4-MM850 or QSFP-40G-CSR4-MM850 transceiver module to connect a QSFP+ port to four SFP+ ports. The QSFP+ transceiver module and SFP+ transceiver modules to be connected must be the same in specifications, including central wavelength and fiber type. · QSFP28 ports are divided into two groups: ports 25 to 28 are in one group and ports 29 to 32 are in the other group. Only one port in each of the two groups can be split into four logical ports. · After splitting one port into four logical ports, you must save the configuration and reboot the device for the configuration to take effect. |

QSFP+ ports
IMPORTANT: You can use a QSFP-40G-SR4-MM850 transceiver module to connect a QSFP+ port to four SFP+ ports. The QSFP+ transceiver module and SFP+ transceiver modules to be connected must be the same in specifications, including central wavelength and fiber type. |
The S6550X-32Q-HI switch provides 28 QSFP+ ports. The QSFP+ ports support QSFP+ transceiver modules.

IMPORTANT: To connect an SFP28 port to a peer port that does not support speed and duplex autonegotiation, you must configure the same duplex mode and speed for the two ports. The speed must be the same as that of the transceiver module installed in the port. |

Fan tray alarm LEDs

5 Cooling system
CAUTION: The chassis and power supplies use separate air aisles. Make sure the two aisles are not blocked when the switch is operating. |
The switch uses a highly efficient front-rear air aisle cooling system to provide adequate heat dissipation and ensure system stability. Consider the site ventilation design when you plan the installation site for the switch.
