Key features

Layer 2/Layer 3 switching

There are two types of Ethernet interfaces:

·     Layer 2 Ethernet interface—Operates at the data link layer and processes Layer 2 protocols for quick forwarding.

·     Layer 3 Ethernet interface—Operates at the network layer and can be configured with an IP address. It processes Layer 3 protocols and provides the routing function.

All Ethernet ports of the routers can operate at both Layer 2 and Layer 3. You can use the command line to configure an Ethernet port to work at Layer 2 or at Layer 3.

Flexible configuration

The Ethernet interfaces can be configured with different types of transceiver modules according to customer demands. This feature provides customers with high adaptability, without increasing the cost.

LAN/WAN mode switching

The 10G interfaces provided by the interface modules support LAN and WAN modes. You can use the command line to configure a 10G port to operate in LAN or WAN mode. When operating in WAN mode, the 10G port can interconnect with a transmission device for long-haul transmission. For more information, see H3C CR16000-M Routers Interface Configuration Guides.

Port isolation

The port isolation function can isolate ports in the same VLAN from one another to provide more secure and flexible networking solutions.

Link aggregation

The link aggregation function allows you to aggregate multiple physical Ethernet ports into one logical aggregate interface. The upper-level entity using the link aggregation service regards the multiple physical links in the same aggregation port as one logical link.

10-GE and GE interface switching

The interface modules provide 10-GE interfaces. You can switch 10-GE interfaces to GE interfaces from the CLI if the peer end uses GE interfaces or if 10-GE transceiver modules are not available. You can switch the interfaces back to 10-GE for higher bandwidth. For more information, see H3C CR16000-M Routers Interface Configuration Guides.

Flexible Ethernet mode switching

The interfaces on the interface modules support switching between standard Ethernet mode and flexible Ethernet mode to meet different service requirements. For more information, see H3C CR16000-M Routers Interface Configuration Guides.

Super interface module

As a super interface module, the MIC-TCP8L-M interface module supports flexible configuration of POS and GE interfaces.
