Detect hosts

Perform this task to detect hosts installed with UIS Manager and add them to a cluster deployed in the system.

The system supports the following scanning modes:

During the joining process of a host, UIS Manager will deploy initial settings such as physical NIC IP, subnet mast, LAGG settings, and load balancing modes, to the host. If the host fails to join UIS Manager, and the scanning mode is MAC address scanning, the system will set the management IP and subnet mask of the host to 192.168.0.162 and 255.255.255.0, respectively.

Select a scanning mode

You can perform this task only when the system has multiple clusters.

To select a scanning mode:

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Hosts.

  1. Select a cluster from the left navigation pane.

  1. Click Detect Hosts.

  1. Click Scan for Hosts.

  1. Select a scanning mode, and then click OK.

Add hosts to a cluster

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Hosts. If the system has multiple clusters, select a cluster from the left navigation pane.

  1. Click Detect Hosts.

  1. Click the Scan icon .

  1. Select one or more hosts, click the  icon, and then configure network settings for the hosts as planned on the initialization page.

  1. Click OK, and then click Add to Cluster.

  1. Assign host disks to a disk pool, and then click Next.

  1. Configure host role and rack settings:

  1. Click the Hosts tab, and then click the  icon for a host to edit the host role.

  1. Select a rack for each host. If no rack is available, first click Configure Rack to add racks.

  1. Click Finish.

Parameters

Assume that you enable this feature for Host A, which uses eth0 as the management network NIC, eth1 as the service network NIC, and eth2 and eth3 as the storage network NICs. The system automatically configures network settings for a host only when the host meets the following requirements:
