External cluster management enables you to incorporate VMware host clusters into UIS. Then, you can migrate VMware VMs to UIS.
After you incorporate the host clusters in VMware vCenter, you can create migration tasks as described in "Manage migration tasks" to migrate the VMware VMs to UIS.
On the external cluster management page, you can perform the following tasks:
View information about the incorporated external platforms, data centers, clusters, hosts, and VMs.
Configure lifecycle policies, migration tasks, VM backup for external VMs. For more information, see Manage VMs.
To avoid VM migration failures, do not add a VMware vCenter to multiple UIS platforms.
The maximum length of the username and password for accessing VMware vCenter is 128. If your password exceeds the limit, contact Technical Support.
If you select the VMware vCenter cloud resource type, enter the management address, username, and password of a VMware vCenter. If you enter the management address, username, and password of ESXi, the migration feature might be unavailable.
