Filter cloud host instances

You can perform this task to filter cloud hosts by host name, alias, image, and network.

To filter cloud hosts:

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. From the upper right corner of the page, select a criterion type, enter the keyword, and then click the search icon .

View detailed cloud host information

You can perform this task to view detailed information about a cloud host, including the host name, owner, flavor, initial password, tenancy, monitor, NIC, disk, image, and operation log information.

To view detailed information about a cloud host:

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click the name of the target cloud host to enter the detailed information page.

Modify the default gateway

The platform supports online modification of the default gateway. Deploying default gateway configuration restarts the corresponding NICs. You can specify only one default gateway for a cloud host. If you deploy default gateway configuration, other NICs configured with default gateway settings clear their default gateway settings and restart.

To modify the default gateway:

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click the name of the target cloud host to enter the detailed information page.

  1. On the NIC Settings tab, click the Set As Default Gateway link in the Actions field and then confirm the operation in the dialog box that opens.

Change the password

Perform this task to change the password for CAS cloud hosts that are running and installed with CASTools.

Only the owner of the cloud host is allowed to change the password for the cloud host. To view the cloud host owner, navigate to the Cloud Services > Compute > Cloud Hosts page.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click the name of the target cloud host to enter the detailed information page.

  1. Click More and then click Edit Password in the upper right corner.

  1. In the dialog box that opens, enter the new password that meet the password complexity requirements as described in cloud host settings.

  1. Click OK.

Manage the operation state of cloud hosts

You can perform this task to start, shut down, restart, suspend, restore, or destroy a cloud host or multiple cloud hosts in bulk.

·          A destroyed cloud host cannot be recovered, and it stops providing associated services. Before destroying a cloud host, as a best practice, confirm the cloud host destroy request, complete data backup, and follow the steps below to destroy the cloud host:

a.       Shut down the cloud host. If the cloud host cannot be shut down correctly, power it down.

b.       Uninstall the cloud host disk.

c.       Destroy the cloud host.

·          Destroy requests submitted by a user account must be approved by the administrator. Upon the approval, the system automatically destroys the target cloud host.

·          When destroying the cloud host, you can also specify to remove the non-shared data disk attached to the cloud host. Note that you cannot destroy the disk with an image created. When destroying the cloud host, the disk that fails to be uninstalled cannot be deleted. Destroying a disk might take several minutes to complete. Do not perform any operations on the disk during this period of time.

·          Shutting down and restarting a cloud host terminates services running on the cloud host. Please use this feature with caution.

·          If a system-associated CAS node fails, recovery the node first to make sure the CAS node is correctly connected to the system before destroying the cloud host. If you do not follow this guideline, you will fail to delete the compute node.

To manage the operation state of cloud hosts:

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Perform either of the following tasks:

  1. In the confirmation dialog box that opens, click OK.

Manage tags

Perform this task to customize tags for cloud hosts to tag cloud host functions.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click More and then select Tag Management in the Actions column for the target cloud host.

  1. In the tag management window that opens, enter the tag information, and click Add. To delete the tag, click  on the tag, and then click OK.

  1. Click OK.

Synchronize cloud host state

You can perform this task to synchronize the states of cloud hosts from the virtualization platform to CloudOS.

  • CAS supports automatic synchronization of VM states. For VMware VMs, you must manually synchronize VM states.

  • If you suspend a VMware cloud host from CloudOS, power operations on the host executed from VCenter cannot be synchronized to CloudOS, and the restore operation might fail. As a best practice, do not perform any power operation from VCenter on a suspended cloud host.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click More for the target cloud host, and then click Synchronize State.

Rebuild a cloud host

You can perform this task to rebuild a cloud host by reselecting the operating system and image, and editing the description. This task is not available for cloud hosts created through the cloud disk method.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click More for the target cloud host, and then click Rebuild.

  1. Select the operating system and image, and edit the description.

  1. Click OK.

Clone a cloud host

You can perform this task to clone a new cloud host based on the template of the system disk and data disk of a cloud host.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click More for the target cloud host to the enable antivirus function that is shut down, and then click Clone. The clone menu is displayed. The default name is the original name-clone.

  1. Edit the name as needed, and click OK.

Attach an optical driver to a cloud host

You can perform this task to clone a new cloud host based on the template of the system disk and data disk of a cloud host.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click More for the target cloud host to the enable antivirus function that is shut down, and then click Optical Driver.

  1. In the optical driver list that opens, attach the optical driver. If a source path exists, the optical driver is attached, and you can only uninstall the optical driver.

  1. Click OK.

Enable the antivirus function

You can perform this task to enable the antivirus function for a cloud host. Before performing this task, enable the antivirus connection in the cloud host service settings. To enable antivirus, you need to shut the cloud host down. Only CAS VMs support this task.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Cloud Hosts from the Compute menu.

  1. Click More for the target cloud host to the enable the antivirus function that is shut down, and then select Turn on anti-virus.

  1. In the window that opens, click OK.
