Manage bare metal flavors

This task allows system administrators to define resource flavors for users based on the service capabilities provided by the cloud and the resource configurations required by users. Bare metal instances include general and GPU-powered bare metal instances. Flavors for each bare metal instance type include S-flavors and M-flavors. You must define S-flavors and then combine the S-flavors into M-flavors for users to request resources.

Create an S-flavor

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Bare Metal from the Compute menu.

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Advanced Settings.

  1. On the S-Flavors tab, click Create.

  1. Select a bare metal instance type, and then click Create Flavor. For a general bare metal instance, configure the CPU, memory, and system disk. For a GPU-powered bare metal instance, configure the CPU, memory, system disk, and GPU.

  1. Click OK.

Create an M-flavor

Perform this task to combine several S-flavors into an M-flavor. Only M-flavors can be used for requesting resources.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Bare Metal from the Compute menu.

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Advanced Settings.

  1. Select a bare metal instance type, and then click the M-Flavors tab.

  1. Configure M-flavor parameters such as CPU quantity, memory size, and disk size as required, and then click OK.

Filter flavors

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Cloud Services, and then select Bare Metal from the Compute menu.

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Advanced Settings.

M-flavors do not support fuzzy match.

Deleting an S-flavor also deletes the M-flavor to which the S-flavor belongs. Deleting an M-flavor does not affect the S-flavors in it.
