The NeoStor console is the GUI interface where you configure and manage NeoStor servers. On the NeoStor console, you can create, configure, manage, and monitor the storage resources on a storage network.
Before installing the NeoStor console, check that:
l
Network requirement
Network connection is correct so that the PC where the NeoStor console is to be
installed can communicate with the IX3000.
l
Running environment
The NeoStor console software is an application in Java. It must run on a
Windows system with J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) version 5.0 or higher. The
operations in this manual are described based on Microsoft Windows XP system.
l
PC memory requirement
The console PC is available with at least 512 MB memory.
To avoid sluggish responses to the operations in the GUI when a large number of storage devices are being managed, you are recommended to reserve 2 GB memory on the console PC for the graphics adapter to work normally.
l
User privileges
On a console PC running Windows operating system, you need to have Windows
administrator privileges to install the NeoStor console.
To install the NeoStor console, follow these steps:
Step1 Launch a Web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher is recommended) on the console PC.
Step2 Enter the IP address of the management network interface of the IX3000 in the address bar.

l The default IP address of the management network interface of the IX3000 is 192.168.0.1/24. In case the address setting has been changed, you must enter the new IP address.
l The NeoStor console may regard the IX3000 as an untrusted site the first time you access the IX3000 and displays a dialog box. In this case, you only need to configure the management port address of the IX3000 as a trusted site on the Security tab in the Internet Options window of the Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Step3 On the page that appears as shown in Figure 2-1, click here to download JRE 5.0.

To start the NeoStor console, follow these steps:
Step1 Launch a Web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher is recommended) on the console PC.
