Quick Start-(V3.03)

1  Introduction

Aolynk S1505L Smart Ethernet Switch (hereinafter referred to as the S1505L) is oriented to small and medium-sized enterprise users and SOHO users for IPTV application. It provides five autosensing 10/100Base-TX Ethernet ports:

l    Uplink port: Connected to carrier network

l    VoIP port: Connected to IP phone

l    TV port: Connected to IPTV set-top box

l    PC port: Connected to PC

l    EXP port: Expansion port (which can be used as the console port)

I. Front panel

Figure 1 shows the LEDs on the front panel of the S1505L: a power LED, pairs of speed and state LEDs, with each pair corresponding to one Ethernet port.

2.2  Precautions

To make the S1505L operate normally and prolong its working life, take the following precautions:

l    Use the S1505L only indoors, and place the S1505L in a dry and drafty area.

l    Do not put the S1505L on an unsteady box or workbench. The S1505L may be damaged if it falls down.

l    Reserve more than 10 cm (4 in.) of clearance around the S1505L for heat dissipation.

l    Wire the interface cables of the S1505L indoors (outdoor wiring is not suggested), to prevent the signal ports of the device from damage due to over-voltage and over-current caused by thunder.

2.3  Connection

I. Connect your devices to the S1505L

The Ethernet ports on the S1505L support auto-MDI/MDIX, so you can use crossover or straight-through cables to connect your devices to the S1505L.

II. Connect the power adapter

(1) Attach one end of the power adapter to the S1505L and the other end to a power socket.

(2) Check the states of the LEDs.

Check the Power LED first. Solid ON indicates the S1505L is powered normally. After a few seconds, check the states of the LEDs corresponding to the ports connected to your devices. Normal LED states indicate the connections with your devices are normal.
