The North West Province is situated in north-west central South Africa, and it has 116,320 square kilometers land area, with population of 3.6 million, in which 65% live in the rural areas.

The Challenge
The North West Province government needs to create an advanced network to achieve numerous important objectives: to improve the communication capability, realize a liberal economy, increase economic growth, eliminate bureaucratic barriers, create E-government services, implement new technologies, increase Internet accessibility and to innovate the education system.

Technology Solution
The following devices are deployed for the network project:
- Quidway® NE05 routers as backbone equipments
- Quidway® AR2809 routers in branches
- Quidway® AR2830 routers as Internet Gateway routers.

In core layer, 4 NE05 routers were deployed and full-mesh structure was adopted to backup each other for high reliability and high availability to guarantee data traffic to be carried smoothly and all services bearing by the network without interruption.

AR2800 series router designed by H3C can provide abundant multi-services access, such as VoIP, ADSL access and MPLS VPN.
