1. Application in the convergent layer of large enterprise
In a large enterprise , the S5600 series are located at the convergent layer. They are downlinked to layer 3 switches (or layer 2 switches), such as S3600 series (or S5100/S3100), and uplinked to a high-performance core layer switch (such as S7500, S9500). With IRF technology, it can expand and upgrade bandwidth smoothly.

2. Application in the data center
In the data center, the S5600 series can be located at the center by the high capacity and performance. They are uplinked to core switch through the 10 GE interface, and expanded and upgrade bandwidth via IRF technology, so it can meet data center’s requirement.
