Campus Network of UFIDA Software Park

H3C’s infrastructure solution accelerates the rapid expansion of UFIDA, Asia’s largest ERP software company

Background

An efficient and trouble-free IT system is a key to success for most large enterprises. That is definitely true for UFIDA, the largest management applications software supplier in the Asia-Pacific region and China’s largest supplier of proprietary enterprise manufacturing /ERP software, service and solutions for a wide variety of industries.

UFIDA looks upon its IT system not just as a communications tool, but as the cornerstone for corporate governance, innovation and core competence. In order to enhance its dynamic business growth, UFIDA has recently made a significant capital investment in its IT infrastructure. Among its key investments is the construction of the UFIDA Software Park in Zhongguancun, Beijing, one of the largest software parks in China. By completion of the entire project, there will be upwards of 50,000 network access points, with 15,000 access points at the conclusion of Phase 1. The Software Park’s campus network consists two segments: the OA network and the R&D network. The OA network covers the entire campus area, while the R&D network connects UFIDA’s R&D Center 1 and Center 5.

Customer Requirements

“Our intention is to build a 5A-level, intelligent enterprise network so that we may foster a strong platform for the company’s research, sales, service and operations. With this comprehensive enterprise information infrastructure, UFIDA will be able to establish itself as a world-class, global software company.”

Customer Requirement 1: Build an effective, 5A-level, intelligent network

Headquartered in Beijing, with key R&D branches in Nanjing and Shanghai, and with 5,000 employees, UFIDA has numerous branch offices, service centers and training centers throughout China. In Beijing, the UFIDA Software Park was designed to hold seven major functional areas including the UFIDA Industrialization Center, R&D Center, Data Center, and Training Center. Upon completion, the Park will provide office space for 12,000 people. When dealing with a project of such magnitude, building a network to support daily business operations is critically important.

Customer Requirement 2: Flexible, anywhere/anytime connection

UFIDA required a flexible network that was ubiquitous across geographical boundaries.

This was essential since thousands of UFIDA employees needed a reliable connection to a flexible internal business and administration platform on a daily basis. Mobile workers had to have access to the company network, anywhere and at anytime.

Customer Requirement 3: High-performance networking with comprehensive security, inside and out

With two decades of experience in enterprise management and ERP solutions, UFIDA understood the vital importance of having a reliable, stable, high performance network infrastructure to support its daily operations. They not only needed to safeguard the network from external threats, but also required the added assurance that the network would also be protected from unauthorized internal access. And with more than 10,000 connection nodes and an extremely high traffic volume, the company’s IT managers needed to focus on bandwidth scheduling and the stability of the network

The Solution

IToIP: Intensive protection for a trouble-free network

While mobile networking promotes efficiency, it also opens the door to additional threats including viruses and hackers. UFIDA implemented the H3C Endpoint Admission Defense (EAD) solution to create all-inclusive network security. This solution features strict, secure admission control with an open and cooperative structure that simplifies deployment and management.

UFIDA began with network endpoint control so that they could integrate client-end security, a secure policy server, and third-party antivirus software in order to monitor and control the endpoint clients’ online behavior. This was crucial for ensuring that they would have dynamic, intelligent, internal system safeguards in place.

High-performance, end-to-end campus 10-Gig Ethernet network solution

In addition to H3C’s EAD solution, UFIDA implemented an H3C core switching, wired and wireless end-to-end solution to construct a network that would support high user demands.

In order to address the diverse service demands for OA and for R&D, H3C designed two separate networks. The two networks are physically independent from each other, with necessary linkage in between. Wireless access that was implemented throughout the entire park was connected with the OA network.

By incorporating H3C solutions in the construction of its high-capacity network, UFIDA now has strict control over the network’s efficiency and security, leading to higher productivity while lowering the total cost of doing business.
