Launches S3100-EI Intelligent Secure Ethernet Switches
Hong Kong, 15 October, 2007 – H3C, a leading global IP networking solution provider, today announced the launch of its newest series of Ethernet switches – the S3100-EI. The S3100-EI is a next-generation Ethernet switch designed to meet network requirements for high security, improved intelligence and superior manageability. Building on its high-performance access capabilities, the S3100-EI offers comprehensive access control policies and a user-friendly network management console to meet the secure, fast access needs of SMBs and large enterprises in a variety of industries including telecoms, banking, government and education.
The H3C S3100-EI series offers comprehensive functionality and advanced capabilities that make it the best choice for organizations looking to deploy more secure wireless networks and highly stable and reliable IP phone networks. By utilizing ARP intrusion detection technology, the S3100-EI can better protect against hacker attacks, worms, IP spoofing and other common security risks. The S3100-EI series of switches also sports intelligent features like automatic recognition of IP phone traffic to ensure the highest level of quality of service for VoIP networks.
“The new S3100-EI switches further H3C’s goal of creating greater value for our customers by supplying high quality, technologically advanced products. With its security capabilities and easy-to-use intelligent features, the S3100-EI can be deployed at the edge of a campus or mid-to-small sized network,” said William Wang, vice president of global marketing and sales, H3C. “The S3100-EI is an all-round product that delivers excellent performance, security, availability, management and maintenance.”
High Security
The S3100-EI offers organizations its exclusive ARP intrusion detection technology that defends against ARP spoofing. While the DHCP snooping trust function ensures the authenticity of the DHCP environment, IP source guard prevents illegal address spoofs including MAC/IP frauds and related DoS attacks. The S3100-EI series also feature powerful VLAN and port based ACL, allowing customers to define ACL policies in a simple and flexible manner for more secure and robust networks. A highly secure network not only protects critical business information, but also improves productivity and user satisfaction.
High Availability
Availability is crucial to enterprise networks. H3C’s S3100-EI incorporates Smart Link, which caters to dual uplink circumstances. It provides enhanced network stability, reliability and a speedy recovery time of less than 50 microseconds. The S3100-EI’s loopback detection function serves to avoid network loops that may lead to broadcast storms and affect common network applications to ensure the most stable and available network environment.
Simple Management and Maintenance
For efficient network maintenance, the S3100-EI utilizes virtual cable testing (VCT) to assess the normality of the cable and circuit while the device link detection protocol prevents network breakdowns. By capitalizing on remote switch port analysis, the S3100-EI optimizes port mirroring, traffic analysis and malicious attack monitoring across the entire network to offer comprehensive support and control of the network.
The S3100-EI series is available in six models: S3100-26TP-EI, S3100-26TP-PWR-EI, S3100-16TP-EI, S3100-16TP-PWR-EI, S3100-8TP-EI and S3100-8TP-PWR-EI. The majority of them support Power-over-Ethernet, supplying power to devices including wireless AP, IP Phones, and web cameras. Enterprises using the S3100-EI can also reduce the deployment of endpoint device wires, thereby saving management costs.
