H3C Launches Feature-Rich MSR Routers

Multiple Services Router Series Offering Customers Greater Integration for Multi-Service Environments

HONG KONG, 22nd, March – Huawei-3Com (H3C), a leading global end-to-end IP networking solution provider, today announced the launch of its Multiple Service Router (MSR) series to the international market. The MSR series is H3C’s latest flagship product to feature its innovative Open Application Architecture (OAA) and caters to enterprise networks that are deploying multiple voice, data and video services. MSR is expected to help revolutionize the router market by integrating adaptive services into a single platform with high security and reliability.

The MSR series routers were developed according to the end users’ application needs for higher interface density and more services availability. This focus allowed H3C to design the MSR routers to better integrate more diversified resources to deliver comprehensive services including data, voice, video and security, as well as many complicated future-oriented services. The MSR 20, MSR 30, MSR 50 series offer eight products that are ideal for industry access networks, enterprise branches and datacenters of small-to-medium sized enterprises. H3C’s MSR series routers can help construct IT systems that are faster, more intelligent and more cost-effective.

“The MSR series is feature-rich and can flexibly accommodate the inclusion of new services making it a cost-effective one stop shop. MSR can deliver up to twice as much expansibility when compared to similar products,” said Li Hong Fei, MSR product manager of H3C. “The new generation H3C MSR series routers are designed to be more than simple access routing devices, they are an open network platform for integrating multiple services.”

According to Wang Dongsheng, H3C’s general engineer for the MSR series, a truly revolutionary feature of the MSR routers is how it integrates multiple services. The MSR series is further development of an innovative concept – Open Application Architecture. The OAA platform found in the MSR series helps users extend services by opening interfaces to third party sources to develop value-added services that further enrich their network applications.

Differing from typical network devices, the H3C MSR series routers support open-ended services modules for interoperability with other vendors’ hardware and most operating system software. Currently, numerous software vendors are in cooperation with H3C to develop new services that take advantage of the MSR series to better satisfy customer needs in their network’s application layers.

“Leveraging MSR lets any vendor explore new advanced applications on these modules, and the end user only needs to install new software to access it. It is as easy and fast as using a PC. This provides maximum expansibility and protection of the enterprise’s IT investment,” explained Wang Dongsheng, H3C’s general engineer for the MSR series.

MSR is based on the advanced N-Bus innovative design that not only smoothly integrates all distributed processes of routers, switches, VPN gateway, firewalls, voice gateway and remote control switches, but can also incorporate the most advanced features such as EAD, anti-virus, multimedia and WAN modifications. The MSR series routers feature advanced tools to ensure high reliability and security. Abundant backup and VRRP technologies provide redundant operations and high availability. In addition to traditional VPN security features, MSR expands and improves network protection by incorporating Firewall, IPSec VPN, MPLS VPN, CA, Secure Shell (SSH) protocol 2.0, intrusion protection and Simple Network Management Protocol support.

“Industry experts predict strong demand for H3C’s new router series as it aims to set an industry benchmark for services integration and open application platforms. Being named ‘Editors’ Choice’ by China Information World and the many positive early reviews of the MSR series routers are indicative of H3C’s leadership in this growing trend,” said Henry Tso, Chief Technology Officer at H3C

Recently, The Tolly Group, the leader in third-party information technology testing, research, and certification, carried out detailed verification and testing on the MSR series products. The MSR series routers proved they were capable of recognizing different application flows and implementing corresponding QoS strategies to prioritize important business decisions. H3C’s MSR routers are designed to satisfy changing market requirements for stronger application support and reduced costs.
