Huawei-3Com’s High-end Ethernet Switches Received National New Product Award
Huawei-3Com’s high-end Ethernet switches were recently named the National New Products and received a certificate jointly issued by the China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Commerce, State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and State Environmental Protection Administration. Under the annual review of the National New Products Program, the new technology products endorsed are industry-leading technologies with independent intellectual property rights, tremendous market value and great potential for growth.
Huawei-3Com’s high-end Ethernet switches, featuring great capacity, high performance, multiple services and enhanced security and scalability, enable customers to build a multiple service and high performance network and reduce total cost of ownership. Over the last two years, the high-end switches of Huawei-3Com have been widely applied by the government, finance, education and energy sectors as well as medium to large-sized enterprises. The entire series of products represent a mainstay of the IT applications deployment in China, which are now running on global networks in tens of countries including Spain, Brazil, Russia, Thailand and Japan.
In 2005, the National New Products Program focused on supporting new highly innovative technology products; new products with self-owned intellectual property rights; new products that can serve as a key driver behind the generic technology in the industry; and new products adopting international standards or other advanced technology standards. With its superior performance and outstanding support, Huawei-3Com’s high-end Ethernet switches become the leading products in the IT sector.

Huawei-3Com has established R&D centres in Beijing, Hanzhou, Shenzhen and Bangalore, India, and all of them are working on the research and development of various products. Near 300 patents applications have been made to the patent authorities in China, with more than 80% of which are invention patents. The company is also actively involved in the formulation of national industry standards such as Standard Guide for Electronic Government ?C Infrastructure, IP-VPN Framework System-based Network and IP Multicast Routing Protocol Technology Standards. The rich set of products and enterprise-wide business solutions are implemented in major national projects including the E-Government Extranet, Class 1 Network of Public Security Bureau and CERNET2 Backbone Network.
The National New Products Program (or the New Products Program) is a policy-based initiative and a major component in building the IT industry environment under the Science and Technology Programs in China.
