Computerworld China Awards Huawei-3Com SecPath 1800F Firewall “Recommended Product“

Internationally renowned IT magazine, Computerworld China has named Huawei-3Com's SecPath 1800F firewall as a "Recommended Product" based on its excellent performance and functionality during a recent comparison test. Computerworld China conducted the large-scale horizontal comparison test of gigabyte firewalls to help its readers understand the technology behind and the application of these powerful network security devices. Computerworld's comparison attracted the attention of vendors and enterprises alike, as its comparison's are always fair, balanced and widely regarded by consumers as being highly accurate and reliable.

The test was conducted on products manufactured by six participating domestic and overseas companies - to represent mainstream gigabyte firewalls. When formulating the benchmark for the tests, Computerworld based their approach on "practicality and user-friendliness" with extensive reference to national standards. The test examined the actual performance of the firewall products and how well they addressed the functions that users are most concerned about.

With the technological development in NP and ASIC in recent years, gigabyte firewalls built on these architectures have become mainstream products in the high-end firewall market. In this market environment, horizontal comparison tests of gigabyte firewalls are an excellent way for the average end user to appreciate the functionality and capabilities of these security devices.

Test results showed that Huawei-3Com SecPath 1800F firewall device exceeded the requirements for high reliability in terms of network application, offering carrier grade capabilities for external attack prevention, protection of overall network security and traffic monitoring, among others. As for functionality, the SecPath 1800F performed well and was one of the few products to complete a one-off hybrid test. During performance tests, the SecPath performed equally impressive. Operating under the guidelines set by Computerworld China and in NAT mode, the results of three load tests reached an average of 100 percent. These test results along with the SecPath 1800F's ease of use and installation, complete management functionality and cost-effectiveness earned it the "Recommended Product" appellation.
