H3C Helps China’s Fairyland Build a Security System

Hangzhou, China, 25 Sep 2008 — H3C Technologies, one of the world’s leading IP technology and solution providers, today announced that it is helping the municipal government of Penglai, China build a digital surveillance system for the city’s scenic zone, known as Fairyland.

Penglai, a beautiful city on the Shandong Peninsula, features the Penglai Pavilion, one of the four most famous towers in ancient China, and the Penglai Water Fortress, the most complete ancient navy base in the country, as well as many other scenic spots.

To turn this historic area into a first-rate scenic zone under digital, high-tech management, the Penglai Municipal Government decided to construct a digital security system that delivers high-quality, advanced technology, reliability, integrated platforms and convenient maintenance and management.

The existing system had experienced quite a few problems, which led the Penglai government to carefully investigate alternatives. The city chose the H3C IToIP solution as the ideal, all-around system to meet their needs. The solution includes.

· IP-based intelligent surveillance system solution: The H3C iVS8000 solution provides high-reliability, high-capacity video storage with fully integrated components. It features a dual-system hot standby redundancy design that supports the full D1 high-definition dedicated network of 247 surveillance points.

· IP voice system solution: The mature H3C VoIP solution provides full IP voice coverage throughout the scenic zone.

· Network system solution: The comprehensive Penglai installation consists of the H3C S7510E switch with dual-core redundancy; the H3C Multi-Server Router MSR50-40, which provides an egress route to the wide area network (WAN); and the H3C Intelligent Management Center (iMC), which provides network-wide unified management.

· Security system solution: The H3C IPS T200E intrusion defense system and F1000-S firewall provide comprehensive Layer 2 to Layer 7 protection of the entire network.

· IP storage system: The advanced, mature H3C EX1000S system provides highly dependable 12-day storage of the 2MB high-definition code stream from the 247 surveillance points in the scenic zone.

“We are very glad to have this opportunity to build the surveillance system for Penglai, China’s Fairyland on Earth,” said Zhang Jianjun, H3C Director of the Commercial Market Segment. “The whole system features a Next Generation Networking (NGN) design and the core switch provides dual-system redundancy design, which guarantees the long-term stable operation of the system. The network, security, storage, voice and surveillance systems are seamlessly integrated on a unified platform, fully demonstrating the unique strength of H3C’s IToIP total solutions.”
