Application groups

An application group is a collection of published applications. You can use application groups to assign applications published by application servers attached to the same domain controller to designated domain users, domain user groups, or OUs.

Create an application group

Before you create application groups, configure application servers as described in "Application servers."

  1. From the navigation pane, select Applications > Application Center > Virtual Applications > Application Groups.

  1. Click Create.

  1. Enter a name and an optional description for the application group, select an authentication server, and then click OK.

When multiple domain controllers exist, the application group can publish only the applications on the application servers created based on the authentication server.

Edit an application group

  1. From the navigation pane, select Application > Application Center > Virtual Applications > Application Groups.

  1. Click Edit in the Actions column for the target application group.

  1. Edit the application group name and description as needed.

  1. Click OK.

Delete application groups

  1. From the navigation pane, select Application > Application Center > Virtual Applications > Application Groups.

  1. Perform either of the following tasks:

  1. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.

Publish applications

  1. From the navigation pane, select Application > Application Center > Virtual Applications > Application Groups.

  1. Select an application group, and then click Publish Applications.

  1. Select an application server and then select the applications you want to publish.

If Space Console fails to automatically obtain applications from the application server, perform the following tasks:

  1. Click Add Apps.

  1. Enter the application name, executable file path, and description (optional).

The application name cannot be the same as any other applications in the application group. The executable file path must be exactly the same as that on the application server.

  1. Click OK.

  1. Click Next to verify applications. The system will automatically check whether the applications selected in the previous step conflict with published applications in the application group.

During verification, you can click Edit in the Actions column for an application, edit the name, command parameter, and description (optional) settings, and then click OK.

·          If an application name fails the verification, edit the application name before performing consequent operations.

·          The command parameter refers to the paths of the files and Web pages and shared paths that can be opened through the executable file path on the application server. With an application assigned, the user can open the files or Web pages associated with the command parameter by clicking the application name on the Virtual Applications page of the client.

  1. After the application verification succeeds, click Next.

  1. Specify the authorized users (domain users, domain user groups, or OUs), and then click Next.

  1. Preview the configuration and then click OK.

Republish an application

  1. From the navigation pane, select Application > Application Center > Virtual Applications > Application Groups.
