Manage virtual switches

A virtual switch provides software-based switching between VMs, hosts, and the external network. A virtual switch provides the following ports:

After you add a host to CVM, the system automatically creates a default virtual switch named vswitch0 for network management on the host. If you do not configure any backup network or migration network, the backup and migration data for VMs will be transmitted through vswitch0.

Restrictions and guidelines

A virtual switch cannot be deleted if it is being used by VMs.

Add a virtual switch

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Resources > Host Pool Name > Cluster Name.

  1. Click the vSwitches tab.

  1. Click Add vSwitch.

  1. Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."

  1. Click Finish.

Modify a virtual switch

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Resources > Host Pool Name > Cluster Name.

  1. Click the vSwitches tab.

  1. Click the 9.png icon for the target virtual switch.

  1. Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."

  1. Click Finish.

Delete a virtual switch

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Resources > Host Pool Name > Cluster Name.

  1. Click the vSwitches tab.

  1. Click the 10.png icon for the target virtual switch.

  1. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.

View the virtual switch topology of a cluster

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Resources > Host Pool Name > Cluster Name.

  1. Click the vSwitches tab.

  1. Click the  icon for the target virtual switch.

Delete a host from a virtual switch

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Resources > Host Pool Name > Cluster Name.

  1. Click the vSwitches tab.

  1. In the Hosts Using the vSwitch list, click the 10.png icon for the target host.

  1. In the dialog box that opens, click OK.
