H3C UIS Manager is compatible with multiple types of NICs and guest OSs that support SR-IOV that are listed but not restricted in the following table.
Physical NIC |
Guest OS |
Intel Corporation 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection NIC firmware version: 0x800007c7 |
Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit) Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.0 (64 bit) CentOS Release 7.0 64 (64 bit) CentOS Release 6.5 64 (64 bit) |
Intel Corporation 82599 10-Gigabit Dual Port Backplane Connection (rev 01) NIC firmware version: 0x800006d5 |
Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit) Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.0 (64 bit) CentOS Release 7.0 (64 bit) CentOS Release 6.5 (64 bit) |
Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM57810 10 Gigabit Ethernet NIC firmware version: 7.10.10 |
Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit) Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.0 (64 bit) CentOS Release 7.0 (64 bit) |
The physical hosts must have IOMMU enabled.
The physical hosts must support SR-IOV and must be enabled with SR-IOV in BIOS.
NICs that support SR-IOV must be installed in expansion slots with a minimum bus bandwidth of X8.
PF drivers must be installed in UIS CVK. For mainstream NICs such as Intel 82599 and BCM57810, UIS CVK provides default drivers.
VF drivers must be compatible with physical NICs and must be installed in a guest OS. For some NICs, the guest OS contains default drivers for the NICs. For example, a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7. OS with a kernel version higher than 3.9 contains the VF driver for BCM57810 NICs by default. For other NICs, you must download and install a driver from the NIC vendor or host vendor.
If you use a Windows OS, you must install a VF driver for SR-IOV NICs in the OS. You can obtain the driver installation file from the server or NIC vendor.
For Linux OSs, Intel 82599 NICs support only Linux OSs with a kernel version higher than 2.6, and BCM57810 NICs support Linux OSs with a kernel version higher than 3.9.
The following functions are not available for VMs configured with SR-IOV:
Online and offline VM migration
Online storage migration
HA
DRS
DPM
DRX
NetFlow
FT
VM suspension and restoration
VM snapshot
VM resource hot add
Network statistics about vNICs that use SR-IOV passthrough
Errors might occur if you enable or configure these functions on UIS Manager. |
